Summer Reading Magic Show At Meriden Public LIbrary

7/5/2019

The smiles will be out of this world on July 26 when Connecticut magician, Matt The Balloon Man, brings his "To The Moon And Back” magic show to the Meriden Public Library at 105 Miller St., Meriden, Connecticut. Free and open to the public, the 45-minute show will begin at 10:30am and is part of the library’s “Universe of Stories” summer reading program.

“It is important to have summer programming at the library so that kids have opportunities to engage in fun and educational activities,” said Michelle Farella, Children’s Librarian. “The programs also remind them to keep up with their reading so that they avoid the summer slide.”

Matt The Balloon Man’s show will tie reading in to the outer space theme. “At one point we’re going to do some magic with an alien visitor who’s come to read our books, and then we’ll even have a child come up and do a re-enactment of when Neil Armstrong walked on the moon,” said Matt The Balloon Man. “It’s important to me that the show is fun and reinforces how much fun kids can have by exploring the universe of stories we’re celebrating this year.”

This will be Matt The Balloon Man’s third performance at the Meriden Public Library. “Matt has great energy and keeps the kids laughing and entertained,” said Farella, who’s quick to remind people that there’s much more than magic offered at the library. “We have many great programs happening everyday so if the weather is too hot or it rains, there is always something free for them to do at the library.”

In addition to performing at the library, Matt The Balloon Man has put together a summer reading list of his favorite beginner books on learning magic. “Everyone thinks that magicians aren’t supposed to reveal our secrets, but the truth is we love teaching others our craft,” he said. His list is available at https://www.matttheballoonman.com/news/my-magic-summer-reading-list .

What past customers are saying
"We booked Matt for a company picnic last September and he was a hit!! From the moment he set up he was busy making his balloons for the kids and adults until the function was over. I would recommend him highly to anyone!" - Tom Barone, Standard Oil, Stratford, CT
"I hired Matt to create his balloon masterpieces for the City of New Haven's family-friendly festivities leading up to our Fourth of July fireworks. Once the first kid received his balloon ... they started lining up in droves. Matt was always happy to oblige, though, making sure each each and every kid left with a smile ... I would highly recommend him for your event!" - Kyle Yoder, City of New Haven
